The firm represents individuals, business owners, beneficiaries, and corporations across Ontario in real estate, business, and estate litigation matters. Owned and led by lawyer Nick Tenev, Cowan Litigation handles cases ranging from straightforward contract disputes to complex multi-party litigation before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Divisional Court, and the Court of Appeal.

Fred Wu
Lawyer
Fred Wu is a lawyer at Cowan Litigation and principal at Wu Law, where he focuses on intellectual property disputes involving brand identities, creative works, and technology rights. With experience at leading IP boutiques in the UK and Canada as well as large national and multinational firms, Fred advises global companies on IP strategy and asserts and defends their rights before the courts. He holds a JD in law and technology from the University of Ottawa (cum laude), with further degrees in the life sciences, and was on the winning team and named best advocate at both the 2015 Fox IP Moot and the 2016 Oxford International IP Moot.
Kystra Ryan
Law Clerk
Kystra Ryan is a Litigation Law Clerk at Cowan Litigation, known for her commitment, drive, and professionalism, and voted Toronto’s Top Law Clerk in 2020, 2021, 2023, and 2024. Well versed in the Rules of Civil Procedure, she assists lawyers across all facets of the litigation process, including the preparation of pleadings, affidavits, and motion materials for all levels of court, with experience spanning banking, construction, employment, mortgage enforcement, and estates matters, as well as the enforcement of judgments, undertakings, cost submissions, and appeals. A fellow of the Institute of Law Clerks for Ontario, Kystra also teaches future legal professionals at Durham College in the School of Social and Community Services.
